Another Day, Another Hit-and-Run

Authorities are currently investigating a hit-and-run accident that took the life of a woman early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred just before 4 a.m. near Foxbrick Lane, located west of Lee Road. A Precinct 4 Deputy Constable discovered the body of a woman lying in the roadway. Investigators say that she had died as a result of being hit by a driver who left the scene of the accident. It is a legal requirement in the state of Texas that anyone who is involved in an accident must stop following the crash. Not to do so means you could likely be found guilty of hit and run. Also, when you are involved in an accident, you are also required by Texas law to render aid as well if it is possible to do so. After an accident, you are also required by law to provide identification and your personal information, such as your driver’s license and insurance information if it is requested by officials. Police and other law enforcement officers will generally gather this information from everyone at the scene of the accident. That is a good reason why you should never drive without your driver’s license and proof of insurance card with you. If you are involved in an accident, or stopped by law enforcement officers for any reason, both of these items will be required from you. Failure to comply with them can result in arrest, severe fines, and loss of license and insurance.
