According to authorities, the accident occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. when a woman driving silver Honda CRV along the 6500 block of Gulf Freeway came upon a major accident ahead on the roadway.
The 39-year-old woman whose identity has not yet been released by police, swerved to avoid the accident scene. Her vehicle then struck a concrete retaining wall causing her vehicle to become airborne. The vehicle stopped when it crashed into several trees.
No one in the first accident was killed, however the driver of the Honda CRV was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
