Driver Plows into Group of Motorcycles
Two motorcyclists were left injured after a driver drove his car into a group of riders on the Gulf Freeway. According to the Houston police, the driver of a gray Ford Focus plowed his vehicle into a group of six motorcyclists. The impact knocked two of the motorcyclists off of their bikes, leaving one motorcycle crushed under the front of the vehicle and the other along the side of the roadway. After striking the bikers, the driver abandoned his vehicle, fleeing on foot.
The names of the two injured motorcyclists have not yet been released. They were transported to an area hospital where they were treated for bone fractures. They are currently listed in serious but stable condition. Police are still searching for the driver.
Motorcyclists take more of a risk than other drivers because they have a greater exposure to the elements and the hazards of the road. Often, motorists simply don’t see or do not pay as close attention when sharing the road with motorcyclists. When accidents happen, they can be very serious and sometimes, tragically fatal.
