DUI Suspect Drives Through Three Townhomes

A man has been arrested on DUI charges after he drove his SUV into three townhomes located in southwest Houston early Friday morning. According to initial police reports, the driver had been heading northbound on Cook Road near Sandstone Street at around 5:00 a.m. when he missed his turn, jumped the curb, and drove into a yard. The driver then drove his Ford Expedition SUV through three townhome units before he brought his vehicle to a stop. No injuries were reported as the result of the accident. The occupants of the first townhome, a family of four, had been asleep at the time of the accident. The family reports that from where they were at in a bedroom at the back of their unit, the crash sounded like an explosion. The second townhome was empty, and the third townhome had one female occupant, who was also not injured. An eyewitness to the accident said that the driver took off running down the street, but police later located him inside his apartment located at the end of the block. Police took the driver into custody while they investigate whether alcohol may have been involved in the crash. Accidents can happen even when you are in the safety of your own home.
