High Speed Chase Involving 30 Vehicles Ends in Arrest
Three people have been arrested after a high-speed chase from Channelview into Montgomery County on Sunday. According reports from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded to a robbery at a gas station located in the area near First Street and Market Street. When the law enforcement officer arrived at the scene, three male suspects attempted to ram their vehicle into the Sherriff’s deputy’s patrol cruiser. The deputy fired three shots, after the vehicle fled the scene. The deputy then proceeded to pursue the suspect vehicle. The Harris County Sheriff’s office reports that up to 30 law enforcement units pursued the suspects as they made their way heading north on the Eastex Freeway. The chase continued for approximately 30 minutes and covered a distance of nearly 38 miles. The high speed pursuit of the suspect vehicle ended along the Eastex Freeway service road at Wallis Street in Montgomery County. From there, the suspects left their vehicle and attempted to feel on foot a wooded area. Witnesses at the scene said that helicopters and K-9 units joined the officers in pursuit of the suspects. Harris County Sheriff’s deputies apprehended one of the suspects, while the police dogs found the remaining suspects in connection with the crime. Sheriff’s office officials did confirm that a Taser was used on the first man that was apprehended.
