Host Of Local Sports Talk Show Dies In Crash
The game of cricket has been enjoying a steady increase in popularity around the world; even in the state of Texas. The Houston cricket community is still reeling after the tragic death of one of its own. According to a story on the Houston Chronicle website, the victim of a fatal crash on Tuesday has been identified as the host of a cricket-themed local talk show in Houston, “Cricket World”
Police investigators have identified the single victim in the fatal crash as Khurram Ibrahim, 43. Ibrahim, was the host of the popular show, was returning from a funeral when he crashed his black BMW into and underneath the rear of an 18 wheeler on the Southwest Freeway (US-59) near Harwin.
The crash sheared off the top half of the car. The accident shut down the southbound lanes of the freeway for a number of hours. Police say that the likely cause of the crash was due to Ibrahim’s failure to control his speed.
Ibrahim’s cohost on the popular show, Dr. Kashif Ansari told Chron.com reporters that Ibrahim came to the United States from Pakistan 30 years ago. Ansari said that his friend and colleague graduated from Texas A&M University and was well-regarded within his community and a proud Houstonian. Ibrahim is survived by his wife and their three children.
