Potholes along the Hempstead Highway are being cited by Houston Police as being the case of an officer crashing his police cruiser late Sunday night. According to Houston Police, the accident happened just shortly before 11 p.m. near W. Tidwell. The officer had been responding to a home burglary call when he struck several potholes in the road, which caused the officer to lose control of his patrol car. The police cruiser spun around and struck another vehicle in the opposite lane before going into a ditch. According to official reports, the officer was not injured in the accident, however, a male passenger in the other car that was struck by the police cruiser did complain of dizziness.
