Law Enforcement Officer Rear-Ended By Alleged DUI Driver
When a person decides to get behind the wheel after they have been drinking alcohol, they not only are taking their own lives and safety into their hands but also the lives of everyone else they happen to be sharing the road with. Such situations can often result in an accident with tragic results.
This is may have been exactly what happened on Wednesday when a possibly drunken driver struck the vehicle of a Houston law enforcement officer last week on Highway 288.
According to an article appearing on Houston’s Chron.com website, the accident happened in the very early hours of Wednesday morning at approximately 12:30 a.m. near Orem when Sgt. T. Fenida, a SWAT officer with the Houston Police Department was on his way home. Fenida’s vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle.
The car with the possibly intoxicated driver struck a second vehicle before the driver lost control. The second impact caused the car that struck Fenida’s and the second vehicle to overturn.
Emergency crews had to extricate the unidentified motorist from the wreckage. They were then transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officer Fenida was also taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. The driver of the second vehicle that was struck by the possibly drunken driver was not injured in the accident.
The accident is still currently under investigation.
