Man Dies in Trench Collapse
A Bazoria County worker was killed on Friday night when the trench he was working in suddenly collapsed. The workman was in a 15-foot-deep hole doing work on the cable line. The man’s co-workers tried to dig him out of the trench, but failed to free him. Emergency crews were called and both the Pearland and the Houston Fire Department rescue teams responded to the call. Together it took them eight hours to get the man out of the hole. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The identity of the man has not been released and the accident remains under investigation. Injuries on the job can happen at any time and almost always is unexpected.
