Man Hospitalized after Flipping Car
A man has been hospitalized after flipping his car in northwest Harris County early Friday morning. Harris County Sheriff’s deputies say the driver of an SUV was heading south on Highway 99 when he slammed into barrels at the end of a concrete barrier just after 2:00 a.m. The 34-year-old man needed to be pried from his vehicle. The man was airlifted by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital. He is listed in serious, but stable condition. Harris County Deputies say the cause of the crash is still under investigation and are uncertain whether the driver fell asleep at the wheel or if alcohol may have played a role in the crash. A rollover accident can cause very serious injuries such as head and neck trauma, as well as death.
Such accidents are terrifying; however, there are ways to prevent them. Avoid overloading your vehicle, pay attention to your rate of speed, and be aware of the higher center of gravity on SUV and other large vehicles. It is also a good idea to avoid distracted driving, make sure that you are rested and not overtired before getting behind the wheel, avoid drinking and driving, and to always wear a seatbelt.
