Minor Accident Leads To Fatality
An early morning accident Saturday has led to the death of one man. Near U.S. Highway 90 on Sheldon Road, two vehicles became involved in a minor accident causing one of them to come to rest in a ditch by the road.
According to authorities, Erick Chavez, who was passenger in the vehicle that had become stuck in the ditch, got out of the car and attempted to flag down assistance to extract the stuck car. Chavez failed to get out of the way of an oncoming 1999 Chevrolet Silverado and was struck and killed. The Traffic Enforcement Division is continuing to investigate the case.
