Pedestrian On I-45 Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver
Along our interstates and freeways, traffic tends to move at a high rate of speed. Walking on these busy roadways is dangerous to both pedestrians and motorists.
Recently, a man who had been walking along the northbound lanes of Interstate 45 was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver last Thursday, according to a story appearing on the Houston Chronicle website.
A lieutenant with the Houston Police Department told reporter Jay R. Jordan that the accident happened along the interstate near North Loop 610.
Police say that the driver fled the scene of the crash and made no attempt to render aid to the male pedestrian. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
So far, no eyewitnesses have come forward with any further information about the fatal crash.
Investigators at the scene found debris near the body of the victim, but they are uncertain whether it came from the suspect vehicle or if the debris was there before the crash occurred.
Authorities have not released the name of the victim pending notification of family members. Investigators have also not indicated why the man was walking along the roadway before he was struck and killed.
Anyone with any information about the crash is encouraged to contact the Houston Police Department.
