According to officials, the one vehicle accident happened on Wednesday, September 3 at approximately 12:30 p.m. when a northbound Mitsubishi Montero Sport on Veterans Memorial veered off the roadway and onto the grass, causing the vehicle to roll over.

Shameca Davis was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Rollover accidents have been the cause of many serious injuries including head and neck trauma or even responsible for death. To go through a rollover accident is a terrifying situation that no one ever wants to find themselves in. While SUV’s and other sport utility vehicles tend to be more likely to roll over due to their higher center of gravity, any vehicle can potentially roll over if the conditions are right.

In order to lessen the risk of a rollover accident there are a few precautions that everyone can take.

* Make sure your tire pressure is right for your vehicle. This information is most easily found in the owner’s manual for your vehicle. Also, make sure that your tread is not too worn and replace any tires where the tread is worn.

* Wear a seat belt. Ejections from vehicles during an accident can almost always be traced to whether or not the person was wearing a seatbelt or not. Nearly three quarters of all people ejected from vehicles lose their life in such accidents. All 50 states have laws that require the use a seat belt or for every occupant in a motor vehicle or the use of child restraints.

* Watch your speed. Posted speed limits are there for a reason and can save lives. The faster a vehicle travels, the more it increases the chance of getting into an accident.
