Tow Truck Driver Killed On I-45 At Traffic Stop
Our roadways are kept safe, not only by the men and women of law enforcement, but also by emergency crews such as fire and rescue, and tow truck drivers. Nearly every state has move over or slow down laws on the books. Such laws are designed to keep those officers, emergency workers, and motorists safe.
An accident on Saturday, February 23rd involving a motorist, s state trooper’s vehicle and a tow truck has resulted in the death of a tow truck driver. Click2Houston reports that a driver of a tow truck in Galveston was killed when a suspected DUI driver slammed into the state trooper’s cruiser in the southbound lanes of Interstate 45.
Authorities with the Texas Department of Public Safety say that the crash happened at approximately 9:30 p.m. near the feeder road located near Teichman Road.
The state trooper had pulled over a motorist and was searching the vehicle when the driver of a white SUV rammed into the state trooper’s vehicle, the tow truck driver, Gary DuBose, had been standing near the state trooper’s vehicle and the other vehicle when he was struck and killed. The driver of the vehicle that had been pulled over was injured in the crash.
Authorities have identified the woman who as driving the SUV as Dianna Hoyler, 52, of Galveston. Hoyler and the other driver were transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. No word has been released on their condition.
Hoyler is currently facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, intoxication manslaughter, and the possession of controlled substances.
