On-the-job injuries can happen for a number of reasons. Some are due to worker negligence or failing to take proper safety precautions. Workers on construction job sites always seem to see a higher number of workplace injuries or deaths because of the constant use of heavy machinery and industrial equipment, the use of hazardous substances and materials and because of construction workers often being required to perform their jobs at high elevations at the job site. Road workers are also exposed to many of the same types of hazards that workers on construction sites are with the added element of vehicles and heavy traffic. If a driver is unaware of or ignores warnings in a road construction area, workers and drivers can get hurt.
When anyone is seriously injured or killed in such an incident, it can leave families reeling from the unexpected expenses that come from hospital or medical bills, the tragedy of funeral costs and not knowing what to do without that source of income coming in to help pay the bills.
