18-Wheeler Rear Ending Proves Fatal

imagesEven if someone considers themselves a safe driver, even if they take every safety precaution, an accident can happen.

On Thursday, one man was killed and a woman was injured when their car slammed into the rear end of an 18 wheeler in Montgomery County.

According to a spokesperson with the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal crash happened at approximately 11:30 a.m. on FM 2854 located near Conroe when Keith Dominique Johnson, and a passenger were driving westbound in a driving a 2002 Honda Accord crossed into oncoming traffic in a stretch of highway that was marked as a no-passing zone.

The driver of an 18-wheeler was headed eastbound and attempted to avoid colliding with Johnson’s vehicle, but Johnson ended up smashing into the rear end of the semi-tractor trailer.

Emergency crews rushed Johnson to Conroe Regional Medical Center via ambulance where he was pronounced dead.

An unidentified 40-year-old woman who had been a passenger in Johnson’s car was also injured in the accident.  She was treated at Conroe Regional Medical Center then later released. Her identity has not been released by authorities.
