Houston Truck Accident Lawyer

When a motor vehicle accident involves a large truck, it can often lead to serious injuries and even death. If you or someone you love has been injured or killed in an accident involving a truck, you need a professional truck accident attorney in Houston on your side. You shouldn’t be held responsible for the financial obligations the accident caused and your lawyer can help you recover the damages.

In cases involving semi-trucks or 18-wheelers, not only will your truck accident lawyer in Houston ensure you receive just compensation from the insurance company, but also they may go after the truck company. Each case is different and your attorney will be able to guide you through every step of the process.

The Investigation Your Truck Accident Attorney in Houston, Texas will Conduct

Once you hire a Houston truck accident lawyer, they will assemble the proper experts to conduct a full investigation. This may include interviewing witnesses, reconstructing the accident scene and a number of other things to help build your case. This information will all help if the case ends up going to trial, but also can help gain a larger settlement from the insurance company.

When an insurance company understands your attorney is serious about the case and will take it to trial, they will often offer a much larger settlement. Your lawyer will protect you by advising you whether or not to accept any settlement offer, as they know what is possible. Nothing can change the fact that you are injured or you have lost a loved one, but piling on large medical bills and other expenses will only cause extra stress.

Your Houston Truck Accident Attorney will Fight for Full Compensation

Things may seem bleak at the moment and you may not understand why this is all happening to you. The time after an accident can be very emotional and there’s no need to make things worse by adding financial stress to the situation. With a truck accident law firm in Houston on your side, you won’t need to worry about the new financial obligations you’ve accrued.

Types of Compensation in a Truck Accident Claim

  • Payment of all medical bills (current and future)
  • Compensation for job loss or lost wages
  • Funeral costs in wrongful death cases
  • Loss of enjoyment of life compensation
  • Punitive damages (an added sum of money used at a punishment)

Your attorney will inform you of what to expect as the case moves forward and they negotiate with the insurance and truck company. Your lawyer may seek other types of compensation depending on the circumstances of the accident. Some cases may gain a larger settlement, while other cases may only result in a small settlement.

What if You Don’t Hire a Truck Accident Law Firm in Houston?

If you decide to take what the insurance company originally offers and you don’t employ the legal services of a skilled attorney, you may not receive enough money to cover even current medical bills. The insurance company will offer you a settlement they think you will accept, but it won’t be nearly as large as you deserve

Without an attorney, it’s doubtful that you will receive any compensation from the truck company either. In many cases, if the truck company has neglected maintenance on the vehicle or the driver was negligent, they will be ordered to pay a large settlement amount to all injured victims and the families of those killed. Without an attorney, you won’t see a penny from the truck company.

Finding the Skilled Attorney for Truck Accidents in Houston You Need

You can easily open the phone book or do a quick search online and find plenty of personal injury attorneys in Houston, Texas. This doesn’t ensure you will find the right lawyer for your case, however. Extremely Lucky Driver Survives Big Rig Crash

Each year, thousands of people are injured in accidents involving large commercial trucks. When smaller vehicles tangle with one of these larger vehicles, it can have very serious or even fatal results.

Since the U.S. Department of Transportation estimates that more than 95% of accidents that involve a commercial big result in at least one fatality, one Houston driver was incredibly lucky.

The Houston Chronicle reported on their website early this week that one person was injured in an accident that happened in the Pleasantville Area on Thursday morning.

Metro Video recorded the incident involving a Nissan Altima which took place at approximately 12:30 a.m. on a service road for Interstate 10 at Gellhorn. The driver was heading was heading westbound along the service road when the front of the vehicle went under the trailer portion of the big rig.

Several law enforcement officers and emergency crews were at the scene to help extricate the driver of the Nissan from the wreckage of his vehicle. The driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities have not released any further information regarding the name or condition of the driver.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was uninjured in the crash.

Huge Award In Negligence Case For Slain Fire Captain

A family in Houston is relieved after a jury awarded them $39 million over a death that happened due to a major landscaper’s negligence. The Houston Chronicle reported on the story.

According to the suit, Mark Braswell, a fire department captain, was riding his bike along North Bridgeland Lake Parkway. He was following a landscaping truck. The truck stopped suddenly in the road to do some work. A crew left the truck to retrieve equipment from a trailer they were hauling. It was this trailer that Braswell crashed into. He died from his injuries.

Instead of pulling off onto a side street or putting up warning equipment, they dangerously stopped in the middle of the road and expected everyone to dodge them. The landscaping company, one of the largest in the nation, is planning on appealing the verdict.

Let this be a lesson to those who work in a profession that may require them to stop in the road. You have to let other drivers know what you’re about to do. Otherwise, you’re putting your life and the lives of others at great risk.

A Bus Carrying Band Members Was In A Rollover Crash. 5 Had Minor Injuries.

A rollover crash involving a charter bus on the westbound North Loop Interstate-610 on Saturday blocked multiple lanes, creating delays and traffic jams.

Click 2 Houston reports that the crash happened on February 29th at approximately 10:00 A.M. when a bus that was traveling from Dallas to Houston crashed.  Officials say that the bus was transporting a road crew for a band from one metropolitan area to the other when the accident occurred.

A total of 11 people on the bus were injured. Of the bus occupants,  five members of the production crew were reportedly taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Others who were also on board when the accident happened made other arrangements for transportation in order to get from the crash scene to the venue in a timely manner.

Details about the crash are still unclear. Investigators with the Houston Police Department are uncertain why the driver of the bus went off the road and hit several plastic barricades that had been installed to keep motorists on the highway safe.

According to Houston Fire Department District Chief, Anthony Russo, the barrel-like plastic barricades created a ramp effect and were strong enough to have held the bus up. The bus was elevated above the highway in such a fashion that it required a crane to be brought back down again.

The accident is still currently under investigation. Fortunately, there were not any serious or life-threatening injuries.
