What should have been a routine traffic stop Monday evening turned into a chase with police that ended with a car crashing into a home. The incident happened in the 5200 block of Kingsbury in southeast Houston when Harris County Precinct 6 deputies stopped a car in a traffic stop. The driver took off and the police pursued the vehicle. The car came to a stop only after having crashed into a nearby home’s master bedroom. Three of the people who were inside the vehicle jumped out of the car and took off running after the crash, leaving one female passenger behind.  Law enforcement officers caught up with the suspect vehicle and arrested the remaining passenger. Gerald Mitchell, the homeowner, had been feeding his dogs behind the home when the car crashed into his bedroom. “That’s where me and my wife sleep at,” Mitchell said. “Luckily I didn’t go to bed around that time.” Neighbors and friends helped Mitchell to board up his home and to clean up after the crash. Harris County deputies are still searching for the men who were in the car and who fled the scene. Statistics bear out that most accidents happen in the home.
