Driver Flees On Foot After Multiple-Car Accident
Our human instinct to fight or flee in the face of danger is something that our ancestors developed as a means of survival. This reaction is physiological in nature any time it experiences an attack or perceived imminent danger. Adrenaline increases within the body so that the response feels like it’s impossible to resist.
This may have happened last Tuesday with a driver that is now on the run after having caused a four-car collision on Houston’s North Freeway (I-45). According to a story appearing on the Houston Chronicle website, the accident occurred just before 12:00 a.m. near Interstate 45 and Parker.
A spokesperson for the Houston Police Department, W.T. Liu said in a statement that the at-fault driver had been traveling southbound when they apparently lost control of their pickup truck. A woman driving a white SUV slammed on her brakes and swerved in an attempt to miss the truck, causing her vehicle to be rear-ended by a vehicle registered to the City of Houston. The City of Houston vehicle was then in turn struck by a fourth vehicle.
The driver of the at-fault vehicle fled the scene on foot and is still at large.
Police investigators say that there were no injuries resulting from the multi-vehicle crash. The city employee was transported to an area hospital to be checked as a precautionary measure.
The accident is still currently under investigation.
