Eastex Freeway Crash Ends in Fire
A fiery accident on the Eastex Freeway has left one man dead in north east Houston last week.
According to the Houston Police Department, the fatal crash occurred a little after midnight early Tuesday morning when, according to an eyewitness to the incident, a male driver in a Ford Explorer was heading southbound on the Eastex Freeway. The witness indicated having seen the driver lose control of the SUV just before reaching the North Beltway.
The SUV struck the center barricade then crossed all main and feeder lanes before crashing into a grassy area.
The Ford Explorer then burst into flame with the driver inside of the vehicle. The driver died inside. His identity has not yet been released.
The accident is still currently under investigation. Authorities are uncertain as to whether or not alcohol may have played a role in the fatal accident.
There may be no easy answers after an accident until the investigation is concluded. Until that time, it can be overwhelming for those family members left behind to have a sense of closure and to begin to pick up the pieces of their lives once again.
