Deputy Misses Flying Tire, Strikes Wall Instead

A Harris County Sheriff’s office deputy crashed her cruiser when a nearby pickup truck lost a wheel on the N. Sam Houston Parkway around 2:30 AM Friday morning. The crash occurred near the exit for JFK Boulevard. Deputies said that a wheel came off of a pickup truck, causing the vehicle to crash into a concrete barrier. The Sheriff’s deputy who was driving nearby attempted to avoid the tire that had flown off the truck. She avoided the flying tire, but then struck the concrete wall. She was taken to the hospital by another deputy, but is expected to fully recover. The truck driver was unhurt.
