High-Speed Wreck in South Houston Turns Fatal

Those who drive under the influence of alcohol often take risks such as traveling at high rates of speed that can cause an accident.

Such may have been the case in an accident that has left one person dead after a high-speed car crash that happened on Saturday night in south Houston.

According to authorities, the accident occurred just before midnight when an Infiniti SUV that was estimated to have been going at 70 miles per hour slammed into a Toyota Camry near Lockhart and Scott.

The driver of the Camry – a black man in his 50’s was the sole victim in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have indicated that the driver of the Infiniti may have been intoxicated at the time of the fatal crash.  If the investigation reveals that the driver was driving under the influence, they could be facing a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

When someone gets behind the wheel after they have been drinking, they are taking a very serious and sometimes deadly risk. Not only are they risking seriously hurting themselves, but they also risk the lives of anyone who is in the vehicle with them and all of the other drivers they share the road with.
