Hit-and-Run Driver Slays Mother in front of Son

A woman has been killed in a callous hit-and-run incident near Channelview late Wednesday evening. According to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies, the incident happened after 8:00 p.m. on Woodforest Boulevard at Grassmont Street, just north of I-10 East when a mother and her son were crossing Woodforest with her adult son. The young man told authorities that he was able to make it across the roadway, however, when he turned around to look after his mother, he witnessed a blue Dodge 1500 quad cab speeding up and striking his mother. The truck’s driver did not stop and sped away. The woman died at the scene as a result of her injuries. Authorities say that debris from the truck hitting the man’s mother was found on the roadway. They are currently searching for a vehicle that has front end damage. Failing to stop after hitting a pedestrian, bicyclist or other motorist is without a doubt, a crime. It is difficult to even fathom that a driver would have sped up, let alone not stopped his vehicle after hitting someone. The charges of hit and run and failure to render aid are very serious in the state of Texas.
