Liberty County Officer Injured in Car Accident
Corporal James Ott, of the Liberty County Sharif’s Office, was stopped in early morning traffic on Highway 321 when his cruiser was rear ended. Niesha Nicole Swift, reportedly a resident of Beaumont and a corrections officer who was on her way home from work reportedly dozed off at the wheel, accidentally running into the Corporal’s cruiser.
Corporal Ott was transported to the hospital to be treated for injuries to his neck. Neither Swift nor her passenger was injured, though there was damage to both vehicles. Swift has been charged with both failure to control speed and driving without a Texas license. The investigation into the accident was conducted by the Department of Public Safety.
