Man Falls 10 Stories Down Elevator Shaft

A construction worker has fallen 10 stories down an elevator shaft to his death at a construction site on Thursday in southwest Houston. According to the Houston Fire Department, the incident happened at 2800 Weslayan near W. Alabama where a new building was under construction. CF Jordan Construction is building a 35-story residential tower at the address. HFD responded to the call, but the man was already dead when emergency crews arrived at the scene. The construction worker’s employer was a subcontractor. Federal OSHA agents who are also at the scene will conduct an investigation in order to determine the cause of the accident. The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of his family. He has only been described only as a Hispanic man.
