Possible Racing Accident Splits Car in Half
A crazy accident in Houston miraculously only ended in minor injuries. It could have been far worse. Here’s what we know from the Houston Chronicle.
Police believe that two sedans were engaged in street racing on Almeda near Beltway 8 just after midnight. They were going at a high rate of speed, possibly racing but it is unknown for sure. Both cars hit the center median.
One car crashed into a red pickup and spun it off the road. It caught fire but the couple in there managed to escape. They went home where they were later interviewed by police and taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
The other car skidded into a light pole so fast that it split the car in half. Yet even with a passenger and a driver inside, neither were hurt. However, they took off the car’s license plates and ran off. Police are still looking for them.
Thankfully everyone survived. But so many people do die in street races across the country every year. Never take the risk of racing on public roads. It’s illegal and it’s a good way to get you and others killed.
