Reckless Driving Leads to Child Injury
While there was apparently no malice involved, a young 8 year old remains in the hospital today as a result of careless and reckless driving on his uncle’s part. The boy was playing with a friend, simply enjoying another Cy-Fair evening when it happened. While we would love to report that this was an isolated incident, we know that these types of accidents can occur at any time, anywhere in the country.
According to this report, provided by KTRK Eyewitness News, Randy Jenkins, 32, was reported to have been driving erratically within his subdivision before driving up onto the grass and hitting his 8 year old nephew. He then left the scene to get into another vehicle and drive away. Jenkins was found this morning and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The victim suffered head trauma, and was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery. Our thoughts go out to the nephew’s family.
