Rubbernecking Causes Crash On Hardy Toll Road
Accidents will always happen. Sometimes they are just an unfortunate and unavoidable fact of life. All too often, however, they are caused because of someone else’s lack of regard for the rules or for others. These people who cause accidents should be held liable for any damages they cause, whether to property or to another person through injury. Legal compensation is the way to make sure those who hurt others are held responsible. Rubberneckers in a van caused an accident when they backed up in the main lanes of the Hardy Toll Road to watch a burning pickup truck, according to the Houston Fire Department. The truck caught fire around 5 in the morning and the driver pulled over to the side of the road. While HFD was putting out the fire, a work transport van with between 6 and 8 people inside backed up while still in the middle of the road. Investigators said a car behind the van coming up the toll road could not stop in time and hit the back of it. The driver of the car was not badly hurt and taken to the hospital in stable condition. According to HFD, the passengers in the van left after the accident, but the driver of the car remained until police arrived.
