School Bus Driver Goes Unconscious During Trip
A school busy from Humble was involved in an accident on Beltway 8 in North Houston Saturday after the bus driver lost consciousness while driving. Two buses carrying the Kingwood High School girls’ cross-country team were heading east on North Beltway 8 near Vickery Drive when one of the drivers lost consciousness behind the wheel, according to officials from the Humble school district. The bus veered off onto the shoulder of the road. It then came to a stop after hitting a shoulder wall. The driver of the bus was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Humble and is listed in good condition. One of the students on the bus was also taken to Memorial Hermann by ambulance and is also listed in good condition. A second student was transported by her parents to Kingwood Medical Center with minor injuries. There were 30 students on the bus that was involved in the accident. Traffic heading east on the Beltway was slowed for about an hour as crews removed the bus involved in the accident. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. School buses are used to transport students not only to and from the school during the week, but also during nights and weekends for sporting events or other extracurricular activities.
