Seven families have been displaced after a fire ripped through the entire first floor of an apartment complex in La Marque in the early morning hours on Wednesday. According to officials from the La Marque Fire department, the fire at the 1700 block of FM-519 began just before 3 a.m. Most of the residents of the building were asleep when the fire broke out. Neighbors said that they checked all of the units by knocking on each door to insure no one had been left inside.
