Six Car Pileup Snarls Traffic for Hours

Six vehicles were involved in a major accident which blocked all inbound main lanes of Highway 288 at Bellfort for more than an hour Friday morning. According to officials at the scene of the crash, the accident happened at approximately 6 a.m. with at least three people having suffered from minor injuries. Several ambulances responded to the incident. Views from KHOU’s Air 11 showed traffic backed up for more than five miles to Pearland before dawn. While all of the main lanes had been reported as being open as of 7:15 AM, backup congestion lasted nearly the entire duration of the morning commute.
