Woman Struck and Killed on U.S. 59 in Rear-End Accident

A woman has been killed after her vehicle was struck by another on U.S. 59 near FM 1314 on Sunday morning.

According to an article which appeared on the Chron.com website, the Montgomery County Police Reporter indicated in a statement that the female victim in the crash was traveling in heavy rains at approximately 10:30 a.m. on U.S. 59. Her vehicle was rear-ended by a Ford F-150. Released traffic camera video shows the rear of the Toyota almost completely collapsing into the car’s body.

Authorities have identified the single victim in the crash as Geraldine Hendricks, 58. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured in the crash. Police have not indicated if any charges are pending in the case.

In the United States, approximately 1.3 million of all fatal crashes are the direct result of weather-related conditions. An estimated 17% of these crashes are due to wet pavement with 13% of these resulting in the tragic loss of life. Rain, fog, flooding, ice, and snow can make for dangerous driving conditions for even experienced drivers. Such conditions can cause serious accidents which result in either serious injury or death, especially if another driver is taking chances to cause danger not only themselves but to anyone else that they happen to be sharing the road with.

Picking up your life after a car accident can be difficult, especially if you or someone you love has been seriously hurt. If you have to take time off of work to recover, the loss of income can prevent real financial hardship to you and your family.
