According to the story appearing on the Covering Katy News website, the crash happened at approximately 2:34 a.m. near Saums Road at 2500 Greenhouse Road.
Authorities have identified the victim as 16-year-old Christopher Solis.
Authorities say that Solis was riding his BMX bike with a friend at the time of the crash. Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office say that while Solis’ bike was equipped with reflectors, it had no head or tail lights when he was hit. The suspect vehicle continued heading northbound on Greenhouse Road and did not stop at the scene or attempt to render aid.
Solis was declared dead at the scene while the second cyclist was uninjured in the crash.
The suspect vehicle is described as a gray, four-door Mazda 6, year model 2014 to 2016. As a result of the crash, the car will likely be missing the driver’s side mirror, plastic well, and front side bumper cover. The vehicle may also have a green LED undercarriage lighting.
The crash is still currently under investigation. Anyone with any information about the vehicle or suspect driver is being asked to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
