An officer with the Houston Police Department narrowly escaped being run over by a drunk driver during a routine traffic stop. According to spokesperson with the Houston Police Department, the accident happened at approximately 3:45 p.m. One of their officers had pulled over a vehicle onto the shoulder of the Katy Freeway near Antoine to issue a speeding ticket, when pulled another driver came along and struck the rear end of his police cruiser. The force of the impact pushed the police cruiser into the car that was pulled onto the shoulder, causing the officer to jump out of the way, unharmed. According to the Houston Police department, no injuries were reported. The driver who struck the police car was arrested and faces DWI charges.
