Double DUI Leads to Fatal Crash

Jeremy NobleA collision at the intersection of FM 1960 and Wortham Boulevard has killed two people Friday morning. Harris County Sheriff’s deputies suspect both drivers involved in the accident were intoxicated at the time and that speed also had a role in the crash.

Initial reports say that a man driving a Volkswagen was travelling eastbound on 1960 when he made a left turn into a parking lot in front of a Camaro which was westbound, striking his car. Investigators say that the driver of the Volkswagen was ejected and killed.

The Camaro continued on, finally striking a utility pole. The male passenger who was riding in the Camaro also died at the scene and the female driver was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition.

The crash caused a loss of power for roughly a dozen businesses and blocked traffic in both directions for a number of hours.

The crash is still currently under investigation.

It may take a while before investigators can piece together what actually happened in this tragic accident. Both drivers may be found to be at least partially at fault due to drinking and driving.
