Elderly Couple Killed While Crossing Street
killed while crossing the street near an area school on Wednesday evening.
According to police, the accident happened along FM 528 near Bay Area Boulevard in front of the Brookside Intermediate School. Earlier that evening two events were being held at the school, a boys’ basketball game and a concert. The couple had been crossing the street in front of the school when they were struck by an oncoming car.
The woman died at the scene of the accident while the man was taken to an area hospital with life threatening injuries. He later died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident. Their identities have not yet been released by authorities pending notification of family.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and fully cooperated with police. The driver did not consent to a blood test. The accident is still under investigation.
Investigators may not be able to determine the specifics in this accident for some time. The tragedy is that the family and loved ones may not have answers and will have to suffer through putting their lives back together with no real determination of what happened.
