Pedestrian on Freeway Struck and Killed
A driver from Florida has struck a pedestrian on the East Freeway, killing him. According to Houston TranStar, the incident happened near John Ralston Road shortly after 2:30 a.m. Friday.
Houston police said the woman who struck the pedestrian stopped her damaged SUV and called 911. Neither the identity of the driver nor that of the victim has yet been released.
Police say that no charges are expected to be filed in the case.
Pedestrians should never walk on an Interstate or freeway, even in the case of emergencies, because it is extremely dangerous. Many people do not realize that it is illegal in the state of Texas for pedestrians, bicyclists and even horses to be on those types of roadways. No charges were filed because the pedestrian was breaking the law and putting their life into their own hands. However, if the pedestrian was following the law, this situation would be very different.
