Potholes Blossom All Over the City
After a heavy rain, some water seeps into roadways and concrete. Over time, this water wears away the material and causes a pothole. When you have historic flooding like Houston has seen over the past few days, potholes are blooming all over.
Unfortunately for some drivers, they’re causing flat tires and expensive tows. Fortunately, there hasn’t been any accidents because of them. However, if rains keep coming it’s only a matter of time. Asphalt crews have to work when the roads are dry.
KHOU has been out to find potholes in the city. They’ve found the city has filled 6,383 potholes larger than a pizza, but the city has also received 4,938 new work orders at the same time. Road crews are frustrated. The wrecker crews are loving the extra business though!
It’s important that the city steps up as soon as possible to fix the infrastructure problems. The city could be held liable if a roadway causes an accident. If the problem is bad enough there may have been nothing the driver could do to prevent an accident.
