Teens Cut Off SUV, Crash

Three people were injured in a collision that occurred on El Dorado Boulevard late Wednesday night around 11:15 p.m. According to Houston Police, two teenagers were sent to the hospital after they pulled their Chevrolet Cruze in front of an SUV. The driver of the SUV was unable to avoid the crash and collided with the smaller vehicle, crushing it. Reports say that it took firefighters approximately 30 minutes to cut the victims of the crash from the vehicles. The driver of the SUV and the teens were sent to a local hospital in serious but stable condition. Houston Police Department officers at the scene of the accident say that the driver of the SUV was driving over the speed limit, however, the driver was not at fault in the incident. When driving, being able to make a careful turn or merge into a busy street is important. Make sure that you have plenty of room to get into the flow of traffic. Keep an eye on how fast traffic is moving, and know the capabilities of your own car in order to get into the intersection safely.

Cutting other drivers off can be a dangerous game and can result in an accident with serious injuries. However, if you do end up accidentally cutting someone off, do try to apologize to the other driver. If you yourself are cut off by another driver, try to back off and give them room. Sometimes if a driver takes one chance, they are likely to take others or engage in erratic behavior that can cause an accident. Age and experience can also make a real difference in terms of safe driving. Teen drivers have higher insurance premiums for many reasons and the potential of reckless driving is just one of these. Teens are sometimes driven by impulse in traffic situations where an older more experienced driver would have handled their vehicle in a completely different way. Teen drivers are also far more prone to be distracted by digital music players, cell phones, and even video games. Young drivers are far more likely to be talking on a cellphone or sending text messages while they are in a moving vehicle. In legal cases, obtaining phone records in order to determine whether or not a driver was distracted is a very simple matter.
