The Interstate In Texas City Was Closed After Major Crash
Traffic accidents occur across the country and the world on a regular basis, a sad reality in our high-speed, distracted, and often flawed world. These accidents can sometimes be fatal, but even when they aren’t, they can cause personal injury, which often leads to untold thousands of dollars in medical bills, and property damage.
Another unfortunate effect of many vehicular accidents is the disruption they cause to the traffic of the immediate area. When lanes (or entire highways) are shut down as the result of a collision, this can lead to an uncountable amount of economic loss as people are late for work, businesses are late to open, deliveries are delayed, and traffic slowdown causes vast amounts of gas to be wasted.
In a recent accident in Texas City, we saw such an impact. In a four-vehicle crash, which involved an 18-wheeler, nobody lost their life. In fact, there was only one minor injury that resulted from the accident. But the oil spill that resulted from the crash caused the northbound side of Interstate 45 to close completely for several hours, according to this report from Galveston County’s Daily News. The accident occurred on I-45 near the Holland Road exit at about 11:30 p.m., and the highway wasn’t able to reopen until about 3:30 p.m.
The one person that was injured was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the police.
