Truck Driver Killed in Fiery Crash

Investigators have been unable to determine the exact cause of the accident that involved the 18 wheeler and a second vehicle it was hauling. Both vehicles have burned away, almost completely. Only the lower portion that made up the frame and wheels of the tractor trailer remain.
The truck driver, a 42-year-old man, attempted to run from the blaze but was badly injured and lost consciousness. In spite of the assistance rendered by passers-by, the driver never regained consciousness. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by paramedics. The intensity of the fire and explosion left the freeway and grass in the area surrounding the crash badly scorched for several hundred yards. Officials continue to investigate the incident.
