Hit and Run Kills Girl, Injures Five
A young girl is dead while five others were injured in a hit-and-run accident in southwest Houston on Saturday evening.
According to officers with the Houston Police Department who were at the scene of the fatal accident, the crash occurred at 59 and the West Park Tollway at approximately 6:30 p.m. when a red colored vehicle side-swiped a pickup truck that was carrying the children. The impact forced the pickup truck into a concrete pillar.
The driver of red vehicle failed to stop after the accident.
Those injured in the crash include four children and one adult who were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are still searching for the vehicle that caused the crash.
The loss of a family member can be tragic. For parents who lose a child in an accident, the grief can be overwhelming and is one of the most painful things that anyone can ever face. That someone would cause an accident and then callously drive away is almost unthinkable.
It is only a question of when the authorities will find the driver that caused the crash, and when they do, they will have to face very serious consequences both criminally and in civil court.
