Man Charged in Crash that Killed Son
Most people see children as a gift and blessing to have. If you are religious, you may see them as a gift from God. And even if you’re not, you no doubt understand that raising children in a responsible way is like making a major contribution to society. You want your children to be safe, and so you always teach them to be responsibly, hoping they will become mature and law-abiding adults.
Of course, one of the best ways to teach a child is by example. Parents must be safe around their kids not only to protect them, but to teach them to one day protect themselves. When parents fail to do this, choosing to be irresponsible around their family, such actions can lead to disaster.
Take the example of 23-year-old Jesse Galicia, of Texas City. He was driving while intoxicated with four children in his car. The resulting accident proved fatal.
Galicia rolled his vehicle, a 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer, on Interstate 45 North last Thursday. His son was thrown from the vehicle and dies. There was also a 5-year-old girl there, also thrown from the car and injured, a 7-month-old baby girls and a 2-year-old boy. There were all injured in the crash. The three injured children had different last names from Galicia, so the authorities had to find their parents.
Galicia has been charged with driving while intoxicated while having minors in the car and tampering with an accident scene.
