Motorcycle Officer Injured during Funeral Procession
Watching a funeral procession pass by on the road can be a somber occasion, but some people get impatient and try to pass around them. Officers guarding a procession not only guide them to the cemetery, but also keep people safe and preserve the sanctity of the occasion.
One motorcycle officer on honor guard got into an accident during a procession. It happened on the West Loop near Bellaire Boulevard. Fortunately, he is in stable condition and in good spirits. The news report doesn’t into how it happened, but considering he was on a motorcycle and in wasn’t injured much it was a slow-speed collision.
Never try to pass a funeral procession. While it may seem harmless, if tacky, it is also against the law. Officers have been known to move their vehicles in front of someone that tries to pass a procession. This could lead to an accident, and a very embarrassing one at that.
