It’s just a matter of time before the person who is responsible for the death of this person is caught and brought to justice. Recently, the Texas State Senate unanimously approved legislation that would make stiffer penalties for those found guilty of hit-an-run accidents.
The law also places a failure to stop and render aid in an accident where someone is seriously hurt or worse as being just as serious as that of intoxication manslaughter if they are found guilty. In addition to these serious charges that will almost certainly result in jail time and the loss of their license, the guilty party will facing a civil lawsuit filed by surviving family members. The court and juries will almost always side with the family in such a case even though no amount of money will ever take the place of their loved one.
