Teens Refuse to Pull Over, Ends in Fiery Crash
A fiery crash has ended with two teens in custody and a third still on the run after a police chase in southwest Houston early Sunday morning. In an article appearing on the Chron.com website, Houston police had attempted to pull a car for a traffic violation at approximately 1:00 a.m. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop.
In a statement, Houston Police Department spokeswoman, Jodi Silva, said that Houston Police Department officers pursued the vehicle on South Post Oak and Orem. The chase ended 15 minutes later about 3 miles away in a Walgreen’s parking lot located on South Post Oak when the driver hit the curb and broke the front axle of the vehicle causing the car to burst into flames.
Three suspects in the vehicle jumped out of the disabled vehicle and attempted to flee the scene. First responders were able to extinguish the vehicle fire and apprehend two of the suspects.
Through a search, authorities later determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen from Missouri City.
The identities of the apprehended suspects and a description of the at large suspect have not yet been released.
It is a well-established fact that younger people do take far more risks behind the wheel than more experienced drivers will. A younger driver will often drive reckless and may flout traffic laws such as stop signals and ignore the direction of law enforcement. Many experts feel that this may be because younger drivers have less experience and are more likely to act on impulse. Also as mobile technology permeates more of our society they may be behind the wheel be talking on a cellphone or sending text messages even while driving
